mcmicken dental center

is a United Way of Greater Cincinnati funded program. The center is a state-of-the-art seven chair dental center located in Cincinnati's historic Over-the-Rhine neighborhood. In 2016, McMicken Dental Center served 4,961 patients in our community.    

School Mobile Services

is a mobile dental office program where 1,567 students received care in 2016. The staff includes a dentist, dental assistants and a dental hygienist. The team works in a designated space within a school with a "dentist office in a briefcase."

Sealant Team

 

serves schools throughout Hamilton, Warren and Butler counties in the Greater Cincinnati area. With the help of the United Way of Greater Cincinnati, the team applied sealants to the molars of more than 2,300 low-income students in 2016.

 

Discounted Dental Services

partners with Campbell County Fiscal Courts  to offer donated dental services at McMicken  Dental Center to low-income or uninsured residents   of Campbell County in Northern Kentucky.

State-of-the-Art Seven Chair Dental Center Located in Over-the-Rhine

McMicken Dental Clinic provides dental services to low-income residents of Greater Cincinnati. McMicken Dental Clinic is a seven chair, full service dental office that treats children and adults. The clinic accepts most insurances, including all forms of Medicaid in Ohio, and a sliding fee scale is offered based on income for those without insurance or those who are insured with Kentucky Medicaid. Through utilizing a sliding fee scale, no one will be denied access to service due to inability to pay.

Accessible Mobile Dentistry

More than 5,000 patients served by the dental road crew

Services Include:

The staff consists of a dentist, dental assistants, and a dental hygienist.  The DRC travels in three teams to schools, rehab centers and other social agencies to provide dental care to students and clients. The Dental Portable Team and School Mobile Services provide comprehensive dental treatment for men, women and children in Greater Cincinnati.  The Sealant Team is critical in providing preventative oral health care for low-income students. The Sealant Team targets schools in which at least 50 percent of the students are eligible for free or reduced school lunches. The children are seen during the school day, thereby reducing the time the students are out of the classroom.  When students show signs of extensive disease, the sealant teams contact parents and refer them to low-cost programs in their area or our McMicken dental center. In 2016, more than 3,000 low- income children were treated.

The children receive the necessary dental treatment to keep them out of pain and in school. instruction on dental hygiene is provided and students receive a Dental care kit with a toothbrush, toothpaste and floss.

Oral Health Care Workforce Development

CincySmiles' Oral Health Care Workforce Development program addresses the shortage of dental professionals in underserved areas of Greater Cincinnati by training individuals to be dental assistants.

 

CincySmiles provides students with the skills they need to move out of poverty, establish a career path and secure employment in the oral health industry. Students will leave the program qualified to garner a salary of $35,000 to $40,000 annually with the ability to grow and advance within the profession.
