CincySmiles operates a dental sealant team.  The team consists of a dental hygienist and a dental assistant

The team members use portable dental equipment and the serve schools in three Greater Cincinnati counties.  They target schools in which 50 percent of the student population qualifies for free or reduced lunches.

In 2016, the school sealant teams served more than 2,000 low-income students in Greater Cincinnati.  The sealants are a preventative dental treatment that greatly reduces tooth decay. The Sealant Team is a school based oral-program proudly supported by the United Way of Greater Cincinnati.

The children are seen during the school day, thereby reducing the time the students are out of the classroom.  When students show signs of extensive disease, the sealant teams contact parents and refer them to low-cost programs in their area or our McMicken dental center.
